These friendly, medium sized dogs look cute and pretty but do not need much grooming or food. Brushing and bathing now and then will keep their fur and health in good condition. They are very playful, however, and as a result need daily exercise as well as some amount of space to flex their legs and muscles.

  2. Based on my personal experience with a rescue, Aussies are beautiful, smart, and highly intelligent. However, they shed like crazy and need to be brushed and groomed regularly. And they need exercise. Many dog experts recommend that an Australian Shepherd needs to be given a job to do. Not sure all that qualifies as "budget friendly" and certainly not low maintenance - although no one claimed that.
